What is amtico? – amtico floor is a plastic imitation of any type of floor. It can imitate any type of expensive floor including wood floors and marble. Amtico floors are well known for lasting a life time if properly maintained and re-sealed once every 3-5 years, all depending on traffic. Amtico floors are a great insulator and no under floor heating is required.
How to clean? – like any other type of floors, amtico floors need to be cleaned on a regular basis. Using a non acidic amtico floor cleaning product you can wash your floors a few times per week. Many people make the mistake of sealing the floors when they get dirty and it builds up inches of polish. By doing this they trap all the dirt between the layers of sealant and it will make it more visible. Using a flat mop and spray you can clean your floors a few times per week and your floor will keep its great looks for long time.
How to strip & seal? – we will use a special amtico floor stripper to remove the old sealant. When the floor is clean and dry we will apply 3 coats of satin amtico sealant. Your floor will look like new. You should have your floors buffed once or twice per year just to bring up the sealant natural polish.
Can you do it yourself? – well, if you have a slow speed buffer, pads, wet hoover, green pads, mop, bucket, flat mop, tape, high speed buffer and the knowledge to do it , then you can do it yourself. But we would highly recommend that you use a professional amtico floor cleaning company. Amtico floors can cost up to 120€ per square meter to supply and fit and if the sealant is not done right it can make your floors look messy and tired, the opposite of amtico floors. Dublin Floor Cleaning charge between 150€ to 250€ per room for a deep amtico floor cleaning, stripping & sealing. Once every 3-5 years is not very expensive.
