larry2014 reviewed Emergency Vet Dublin

BE BEWARE OF THIS VET !! I don't usually write bad reviews but in this case I will make an exception so others Pets are not put down unduly! Myself and My Wife brought my rabbit (Fluffy) to Mr Condren's vet in 2013 as he lost his ability to walk and his body was completely limp. We believe now that this was due to a fight with our other Rabbit in the same cage as there was lumps of Fluffy's fur in the cage the day we found him on his side motionless.. We took Fluffy to this vet as it was one of the few open late on a Sunday.. The first thing I noticed was the way this vet handled our rabbit, roughly without any real sense of compassion.. He squeezed his legs and back and weighted him and did "no other tests" at all.. and then proclaimed he probably has a broken back and said I can "put him down now" for you if you like..? I asked how do you know his back is broken, as he did not do any tests to proof this (x-ray etc) and he didn't satisfy my question at all.. He said he didn't have the facilities for those kind of tests. That was enough for me, as it was guess work without these tests.. So we paid the consultation fee and left quickly with our Rabbit.. Our Vet was open the next morning and we took Fluffy to him and did some real tests and told us his back was "not broken" at all and kept him in for a couple of nights of rehabilitation and boaster injections.. Within a couple of days Fluffy was starting to move his paws again and eating on his own so we took him home.. Within one week Fluffy was his old self again running and twisting about in mid air and having lots of fun.. There was nothing physically wrong with him in the end, perhaps it was mental shock due to being repeatedly attacked by a stronger male rabbit in a closed space.. We don't keep the rabbits together since that day of course.. It is important to challenge the "opinions" of Vets when it comes to our Pets.. Also make sure you find a Vet who is an animal lover as they are likely to care as much as you do about your Pet.. If I listened to the advise of Mr Condren I would be without the company of a much loved family member, and a great Pet! By the way our Vet is Paul Kelly in Rathoath Co Meath.. He is an excellent caring Vet and the head vet for Tayto Park.. His website is http://www.paulkellyvet.com/
